INTERFILMLAB Workshops within CINEMAFORUM 2017

CINEMAFORUM 2017 means not only the best short films from the whole world but also has a rich educational programme. Workshops and masterclasses, that the festival was known for so far, will be supplemented with the professional education programme INTERFILMLAB. It is dedicated to the issues of the film market, production, distribution, and promotion of the films. A group of Polish experts (Zofia Horszczaruk, Alex Leszczyńska, Joanna Solecka, Katarzyna Wilk, Mariusz Włodarski) will conduct lectures dealing with basics of a good pitching, co-operation of filmmakers and producers during the development of the project, the festival strategy, promotion of the film in social media and co-operation with sales agents.

The lectures and workshops will take place between 8th and 10th of November in the Warsaw Film School. In order to take part in the workshops, you need to sign up. Admission to the lectures is free.

INTERFILMLAB not only will provide the participants the theoretical knowledge, but also practical skills. We invite film directors, producers, promotion specialists, screenwriters, and workers of film institutions, as well as people who just want to widen their knowledge regarding film market.

Film as a Product. From an Idea to Distribution

Zofia Horszczaruk: introduction explaining of basic matters of film market and the role of film promotion on the stage of development.

10.15 – 11.45

Basics of a Good Pitching

The most important rules of a good pitching and effective self-presentation. Presentation of the rules which can let you convince the potential people concerned with the project (experts, festival selectors, distributors and sales agents).

Sales Agents – Who Are They and How Can They Help?

The function of a sales agent in a production-promotion-distribution chain. How to look for a sales agent? How to move in a world of markets and festivals, how to prepare for such events and how to effectively run networking during the industry events.

Festival Strategy – What Will Make the World See Your Film?

A cross-section of the most important festivals, basic mistakes, and difficulties during the development of festival strategies, mainly focusing on short films.

Social Media – About the Promotion of a Film on the Web

The rules of promotion in social media, examples of successful and unsuccessful campaigns, knowledge about what is worth spending money on, and what should be scrimped on, and attributes of a successful marketing campaign on the Internet.

Mia Bays: Micro-Budget Film Financing Lecture (English speaking lecture)

Mia Bays is a producer, whose films were Oscar-awarded and twice nominated for the BAFTA Award. She has over 25 years of experience in the film industry, she has worked on more than 50 film projects and her career began in the distribution sector. In the years 2007-2014 she worked as a creative producer on the production of 8 micro-budget films within the acclaimed programme BBC Film London Microwave Scheme.

The event is organized within the Creativity Talks cycle in partnership with British Council.

Development. About the co-operation of a screenwriter and a producer

Development of the project and the co-operation of the producer and the screenwriter during the process of filmmaking (basics stages and the essence of development, what the director and the screenwriter should know before starting the co-operation and how to look for a producer for your project).
