On the one hand, young people, sleep deprived and hungover, are preparing to leave so that they can go to bed, and on the other hand, there are old people whose day is just beginning. A combination of young and old in such a place, at such an unusual time of day in a way suggests thinking about the transience of life and awakens memories of past days of youth.
