Daniel, a ten year old boy, arrives at school Monday morning wearing a brand new pair of light-up sneakers that his father brought him from a business trip in the United States. When he sees that another boy is wearing the exact same sneakers, he begins to suspect that his shoes are the key to a terrible secret.

Gerardo Coello Escalante

Gerardo Coello Escalante is a Mexican filmmaker based in CDMX and New York. He has directed various short films, commercial projects and music videos in Mexico and the United States. Viaje de Negocios, his first short film in his home country of Mexico, premiered in competition at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival before screening at LALIFF, Rooftop Films, Palm Springs, Hollyshorts, Sarajevo and Tirana Film Festival among other international festivals. In 2017 he was awarded a Sundance Ignite Fellowship for his short film La Visita, and in 2019 he was a Feature Film Program fellow.
